DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides leadership to the Paint Department, ensures effective supervision of all paint staff in various shifts and coordinates training for all departmental employees.
• Ensures all functions of the Paint Department are performed correctly and meets the production schedule.
• Maintains thorough cross training for all Paint Department staff and ensures staff absences are effectively covered.
• Assists in the selection, and ensures effective training and orientation of new employees.
• Oversees ongoing training and evaluation of staff.
• Maintains effective records for supply requirements and ensures successful relationship with all suppliers.
• Understands the full operational functions of the automated spray line and is fully responsible for this unit and its production.
• Ensures a competent back up is fully trained in the Paint Manager’s absence.
• Prepares technical support initiatives for the department.
• Anticipates future requirements and improvements necessary to the effective operation of the Paint Department.
• Assists in the selection and acquisition of new paint equipment.
• Recognizes and addresses or reports any problems to the Factory Manager.
• Works as a team by interacting well with other departments, staff and suppliers to ensure proper product completion, quality control, sufficient supplies and customer satisfaction.
• Ensures quality control and works in a safe manner.
• Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school and preferably at least one year of post-secondary education.
Minimum 5 years of previous supervisory experience in a paint environment.
Several years of experience supervising manufacturing employees.
Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel software.
Able to apply, train and model safe work practices on the job.
Demonstrated ability to consistently product accurate work under pressure situations and deadlines.
Leadership and scheduling skills to ensure work gets organized and processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Able to type accurately.
Able to read and write in English.
Able to work overtime as required.
Able to monitor and train junior employees and work as an effective team member.
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, interact well with all employees and have a high degree of attention to detail.
