This is an excellent shape ornate blanket box that has been in the family for many years. I believe it to be oak. It has an ornate decoration on the front making it a nice looking piece of furniture.
It is not large which lets it fit in almost any room.

It measures 32" long, 20" wide, and stands 20" tall with the lid closed.
