The Central Okanagan Food Bank has an immediate opening for an experienced Driver / Warehouse Person to join our operations team.
The Driver/Warehouse Person must be a compassionate individual who is passionate about Food. At the Food Bank we are committed to providing high quality, fresh and sustainable food for our clients. We purchase, store, and distribute thousands of pounds of fresh produce, dairy, meat and non perishable food items each month.
We are seeking an individual who makes sound decisions as needed and pro-actively involves themselves in all facets of the operation.
Position Overview
The Driver / Warehouse Person supports the delivery and pickup of both recyclables and food donations, warehousing and the distribution of food.
This is a demanding job requiring a solid understanding of the value of recyclables and general warehouse operations. The position requires close attention to detail, the ability to work as an individual and within a team environment.
In this role, your primary position will be the collection and delivery of both recyclables and food, loading and unloading of goods by hand, or with a variety of handling equipment.
This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, evenings and weekends may be required.
Drive to various locations within the Kelowna and West Kelowna city limits to collect scheduled recyclables for return to depots.
Drive to various locations within the Kelowna area to collect donated food items to be returned to the food bank.
Proactive in unloading, sorting, distributing and maintaining quality control of recovered produce within the warehouse, washing, stocking and ensuring incoming nutritional food is available for clients in accordance to food safety guidelines.
Proactive in overseeing all recycling and zero waste initiatives, with special attention to timelines.

Employment Requirements
Minimum 2 years experience as a driver.
Minimum 1 year experience in a warehouse setting.
Current drivers abstract required.
BC Class 5 driving license a requirement. Must be comfortable driving a 3 ton truck and smaller reefer van.
Forklift certificate considered an asset.
Must be a critical thinker and possess problem solving skills.
Excellent communications skills.
Excellent planning, time management and resource allocation skills.
Criminal Background check required.

Working Conditions
Majority of your time will be spent driving, collecting and returning recyclables as well as working within a warehouse environment.
Exposure to ambient temperatures and noisy conditions.
Bending and lifting heavy packages on a regular basis is required.
