Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs invite applications from qualified individuals for the positions of Community Support Worker in the Drop-in youth program and in the Power of Me Life Skills program.

These positions are ideal for someone who has a background and passion in working with children, youth and families, enjoys new challenges, and has experience in developing and delivering services that assist young people reach their personal goals. The two positions available are term positions and will run from September to June.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement programs and activities that are consistent with agency core values and core programming areas. Ensure that programs developed, engage members, address healthy positive child/youth development and provides members with a sense of belonging.
• Through the facilitation of life skills education, promote confidence and increased ability to address needs
• Use Club Vans to take children & youth to various activities within the community.
• Establish open communication with parents/caregivers
• Assist the children and youth to attain their specific goals in the program
• Maintain documentation of participants including statistical and program reports

• Post-Secondary education in the area of Special Needs, or equivalent
• Well-developed knowledge and skill in positive behaviour management with special needs children & youth
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent leadership abilities with experience in group facilitation
• Class 4 Driver’s License or willingness to obtain.
• Successful completion of Agency Screening Process, including a criminal record check

This position is open to all applicants
This position requires Union membership

Hours: Position #1: Power of Me Life Skills program: 4 hours per week (Thursdays from 5:00pm to 9:00pm)
Position #2: Drop-in Youth program: 3 hours per week (Tuesdays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm

Rate of Pay: $19.45 per hour
