A 1940s era free-standing hem marker from W.H. Collins.

The vintage sewing marker stands on a red cast iron base and features a wood measuring stick back. The piece was used by tailors to measure hemlines.

A little glass bottle filled with chalk slides up and down the measuring stick, it is attached to a balloon top tube that is squeezed to release chalk and mark the hem. Red metal base with wood measuring stick, little glass bottle attaches to the measuring stick with a screw peg to slide up and down, glass bottle is filled with white chalk powder connected to a long, red metal tube with a balloon top.

In great condition with wear consistent with age and use.
